less＋原級＋than ～ 意味「～ほど…でない」
※lessが「より少なく」という意味を表すことから、notはないが、否定文のような訳し方になる
less tall（より少なく高い）→「より高くない」
（例文）
He is less tall than his sister.（彼は彼の姉ほど背が高くはない。）
prefer … to ～ 意味「～よりも…が好きだ」
（例文）
I prefer cats to dogs.（私はイヌよりネコのほうが好きです。）
No other＋単数形の名詞 … as 原級 as ～ 意味「～ほど…なものはない」
（例文）
No other car is as fast as this one.（この車ほど速い車はありません。）
※「～より…ではない」と訳してもいいのですが、not as … as ～を「～ほど…ではない」と訳すので、同じように覚えておきましょう。

the＋序数＋最上級 意味「○番目に…な」
（例文）
